New Pavement, Sidewalk and Curb, MorningStar Self Storage, Huntersville NC

Crown Paving crew and rollers compacting a new asphalt mat at a self-storage facility

A storage facility is unusual to pave because the whole property is drive aisle. Every door has to stay reachable, and the turning loads from box trucks and trailers concentrate in the same narrow paths all day.

Crown Paving self-performed the whole scope here: site work, asphalt, concrete, markings and fixtures. 12,570 square feet of new pavement went down on a 7 inch ABC stone base, 522 tons of it, with a 3.5 inch curb reveal left so the asphalt would finish flush.

The concrete is the part people notice on a site like this. 2,100 square feet of sidewalk, 540 linear feet of 18 inch curb and gutter, another 100 feet at 30 inch, and an ADA ramp with truncated domes. Four bollards went in painted safety yellow, and the lot finished with a van-accessible stall and 24 standard spaces.
